Dr. Shaleen Agarwal is the Director of Surgery at the Centre for liver and biliary sciences, Max Superspeciality Hospital, Saket, Delhi. He is a well-known liver transplant and hepato-pancreatic-biliary (HPB) surgeon in India. His areas of expertise include diseases of the liver and digestive tract. Dr. Shaleen Agarwal completed his post-graduation (MS) in general surgery from the Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU, Varanasi, India. He was awarded a gold medal in the DNB (general surgery) final exam in the year 1999.

This was followed by a 2-year senior residency and 3-year MCh (postdoc fellowship) in the field of gastrointestinal surgery from Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow, India. He received his liver transplant training at the Strong Memorial Hospital, University of Rochester, New York where he successfully completed a 2-year American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS) certified fellowship.

Dr. Shaleen Agarwal has also trained under renowned surgeons such as Professor Sung Gyu Lee of South Korea who is a pioneer of living donor liver transplant, Professor Brice Gayet of France in the field of laparoscopic surgery, and Professor Jacques Belghiti in the field of hepatobiliary surgery. He has held academic positions at GB Pant Hospital, Delhi, and the Institute of liver and biliary Sciences, Delhi.

Dr. Shaleen Agarwal has been associated with the Centre for liver and biliary sciences since 2011. During this period he has been involved in nearly 2500 liver transplants and nearly 1000 complex hepatic, pancreatic and biliary surgeries.
