Acute Pancreatitis

This a non-cancerous condition of the pancreas that is associated with swelling of the pancreas. Part or whole of the pancreas may get destroyed in severe cases. Infection of the pancreas is often present in severe cases. Alcohol abuse and gallbladder stone disease are the common causes. These patients require ICU care and surgery is a part of the overall management paradigm.
